While I’m used to seeing breakthrough technologies at CEATEC, this year I was
completely blown away by what Origin Wireless has achieved using existing technology.
This company is offering its Time Reversal Machine algorithm for analyzing all the Wi-Fi signal beams bouncing around a room, such that it can detect any movement or even a
person’s breathing rate within a space. Best of all, this can already be achieved using any existing Wi-Fi mesh network devices after a firmware update. That’s it, no extra hardware required! As crazy as this sounds, Origin Wireless does have a live demo to prove this, and I would encourage you all to check it out when you get the chance.
As you can imagine, this Time Reversal Machine opens up applications such as home
security, vital monitoring, human fall detection, asset tracking and even indoor navigation.
Such precision would normally be impossible without special sensors or expensive base stations, yet Origin Wireless is about to disrupt those markets using just Wi-Fi and machine learning, therefore we are proud to present this special award to the team.
