CEATEC AWARD recognizes excellent technologies, products, and services from among a large number of exhibits at CEATEC JAPAN 2017. Based on academic, technological, promising, and marketable criteria, the CEATEC AWARD 2017 Review Panel will review entry exhibits and confer the award on innovative and sophisticated ones.

CEATEC AWARD 2017 a panel of judges will select innovative technologies, products and/or services exhibited at CEATEC JAPAN 2017 based on academic, technological, and future-oriented impact as well as the likelihood of becoming an industry trend. In addition to awards in specific categories, selected winners will receive ministerial awards from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Category

Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) Award: 1 item

Among exhibits that are shown at CEATEC JAPAN 2017 and submitted for the CEATEC AWARD 2017, the CEATEC AWARD MIC Award will be presented to a networking product, technology, system, service, or a supporting element technology, part, or device. The winner is expected to contribute to fundamental information and communication network technologies for various IoT services or advanced systems.

Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Award: 1 item

Among exhibits that are shown at CEATEC JAPAN 2017 and submitted for the CEATEC AWARD 2017, the CEATEC AWARD METI Award will be presented to an innovative and marketable IT and electronics product, system, service, or a supporting element technology, part, or device. The winner is expected to help create new values, innovate lifestyles, manufacturing, and businesses, and to help solve problems in life and society.

Among exhibits that are shown at CEATEC JAPAN 2017 and submitted for the CEATEC JAPAN AWARD 2017, Grand Prix (1 item) and Semi-Grand Prix (1 to 2 items) will be selected and awarded in the following categories.

Community Innovation Category
Applicable exhibits: Innovative products, services, systems, or their technologies and concepts that use networks for managing mobility, logistics, commerce, public systems, energy, and town environment, or for creating new business styles, solving problems, and creating safe and sophisticated towns and societies
Home and Lifestyle Innovation Category
Applicable exhibits: Innovative products, services, contents, or their technologies and concepts that connect things, services, and information and help create new values and a better life for families and individuals such as entertainment, health care, and energy management
Innovation Technology and Software Category
Applicable exhibits: Advanced element technologies, parts, device products, materials, software, and technology development concept that achieve CPS/IoT and help the development of new products and technologies and the innovation of various industries
Connected Industries Category
Applicable exhibits: Products, services, systems, or their technologies and concepts that help create an industrial society in which new value is created through various connections, and create added value by solving problems in manufacturing, connections among manufacturers, and between manufacturers and consumers
Open Innovation Category
Applicable exhibits: Solutions for co-creation and innovation that coordinate and combine various ideas, knowledge, know-how, technologies, and data from other companies, external research institutes, other industries and fields, perform innovative research and development, create innovative technologies, products, services, and business models, solve social problems, and create value through new customer experience
