Whill – a US and Japan based company has developed a new kind of wheelchair – Model A, providing comfort and mobility to users. The company used the advice of almost 400 handicapped people to develop the design of the wheelchair that can move up to 6 km/ hour in Japan and 10 km/ hour in the US.
With a lead battery that can be last up to 24 kilometers before it needs to be charged, a flexible arm and an arm support, the current version of Model A can support a person who weighs up to 100 kilograms.
The different levels of speed make it possible for the user to go faster or slow as they turn, go forward or sideways. The company has a patent on the specially designed wheels which help the user to glide smoothly as they turn each way.
The Model A wheelchair will greatly enhance the mobility function of the users. For that and other reasons, we award Whill the Health and Household award.
