As modern cars evolve and gain more and more features, it becomes increasingly difficult to present all that functionality to the user in a clear, concise way. This has led many cars to offering hundreds of buttons, or other cars getting rid of all physical controls and only having touch screens. Neither is ideal. Panasonic is showing a solution that enables both simple, modern design along with the tactility and ease of physical controls. This could have a major impact in the design of next-generation automobiles, and so I'm honored to present Panasonic with the Transportation award for its Touch Panel with Rotary Encoder.
