October 5th - October 9th 2010
Makuhari Messe (Nippon Convention Center)
As an IT and electronics exhibition, CEATEC JAPAN 2010 demonstrated the diversity of these industries, exhibiting items ranging from electronic components and devices to digital products, software services and electric vehicles.
Marking its 11th year, CEATEC JAPAN 2010 was an eco-friendly exhibition based on a theme of "Digital Harmony - Technologies for Comfortable and Eco Living" . Proposing ways to realize a more affluent and comfortable lifestyle through IT and electronics technologies, each booth presented a more concrete and effective vision of how to achieve these goals.
Exceeding the previous year, the number of exhibitors was 616 companies (including exhibitors from 15 countries and regions, 196 companies and organizations) and 2,255 booths. Blessed by good weather for the first four days, the total number of visitors over the exhibition period exceeded the 180,000 mark at 181,417 (last year's total was 150,302).
On Saturday October 9, the final day of the exhibition, entrance was free of charge so some events were organized for children, families and students. Despite the bad weather on this day, many students and families visited the exhibition.
This year's venue was largely divided between 3 areas: "Digital Network Stage", "Electronic Components, Devices & Industrial Equipment Stage", and "CEATEC Suite".
The "Digital Network Stage" was held at Exhibit Halls 1 to 4, and was made up of two
zones: "Home & Personal Zone" and "Business & Society Zone" .
At this stage, a number of companies launched a flood of new 3D TVs, and some companies exhibited the next stage of 3D technology, such as 3D visible to the naked eye and 3D image that users themselves can shoot. Smartphones and electronic tablets were also popular.
Held at Exhibition Halls 4 to 6, the Electronic Components, Devices & Industrial Equipment Stage clearly focused on a theme of Japanese global competitive strength, proposing a range of solutions including organic EL displays, digital healthcare-conscious devices, automotive devices, and green IT / Smart Grids.
The CEATEC Suite was held at Exhibition Halls 7 to 8 for three days from October 6 to 8.
The CEATEC Suite event was held for the first time this year as a "new exhibition-style initiative". Combining seminars and exhibition booths, The Theme Plaza was implemented as an "initiative to realize more active BtoB-based business creation". The CEATEC Suite had special booth space for the following categories: "FPGA/PLD Plaza", "Software & Solution Plaza", "Cloud Computing Plaza", "Switching Power Sources Plaza", and "Analog Device Plaza (October 6 to 7)", at which concerned companies and organizations provided exhibits.
Further, all stages commonly focused on a clear theme of Japanese global competitive strength, at which companies and organizations provided exhibitions cutting across industries. These consisted of green IT, Smart Grids making use of IT for efficient power use, 3D technology, digital healthcare products and compatible devices, and robots.
