(1)Digital Policy

At the summit-meeting on March 2015, Prime Minister Abe and Chancellor Merkel agreed on the advancement of the Japan-German cooperation regarding Manufacturing IoT/Industrie 4.0. As a part of the effort to specify the cooperation, METI and BMWi have been advancing dialogues, and as a result, agreed on the conclusion of a joint statement. Concerning the IoT/Industrie 4.0 cooperation, METI and BMWi will hold annual dialogues at the director-general level. Both sides will endeavor to collaborate in the following specific fields, with the participation of private associations and other entities that are interested in IoT/Industrie 4.0. In this session, Japanese and German high level Officers are going to discuss recent development and next steps to deepen the IoT/Inudstire 4.0 cooperation including the fields of digital policy, cyber security policy, standardization and research and development.

Remember back just a few short years ago?  Networks were comprised of many, different enabling technologies: land line voice, over-air-TV and over-cable TV, fax machines, pagers and many other hard wired pieces strung together a network.  Each part had benefits and growth demands but each had its own limitations, management requirements and problems.  Networks are changing, converging; Discrete systems are disappearing.   Today, the network looks very different.  We’re seeing a shift in creating the feasible to meaningful technology. Networks may be better described as application platforms that are delivered either fixed or wirelessly. The fact is, most networks have both fixed connectivity and wireless connectivity already. And we believe that all applications will at some point run through the wired and the wireless network.  This is a vision of our connected and converged world where delivery of network services needs to be increasingly more efficient to manage and implement.
