Founded in 1969 and all operation based in Taiwan, Firstohm is specialized in thin-film resistors manufacturing. Backed by strong in-house R&D capabiliy and manufacturing technology acquired from partners in Japan and the US, Firstohm has pioneered the development of various types of resistors in response to the changing environment of global technologies.
The company is accredited with these certifications: ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001, VDE for high-voltage resistor series. In addition, we are preparing to seek ISO/TS16949 certification. Tests per AEC-Q200 requirements are also underway for certain products.
Firstohm products can be applied in(1)these circuit types: safety/surge-protection, high-voltage, high-power, current sensing, precision, lighting, and ignition circuits and (2)these industries: power supply, telecommunication, test & measurement, auto, and lighting.
Competitive Advantages: extensive product range/customer-oriented/in-house R&D capability/solution provider

Spark Noise Suppressin Slug Resistor (SRS series)
Firstohm Spark Noise Suppression Slug Resistor (SRS series) is developed for high-voltage spark ignition system and demonstrates long-term stability. It is designed with proprietary conductive film, capable of withstanding sudden high-voltage impact and suppressing surge noise, minimizing electromagnetic interference (EMI).

Other passive components
Spark-Gap Surge Absorber (SGS series)
Firstohm Spark-Gap Surge Absorber (SGS series) is an ESD protection component manufactured using resistor technology. It protects the circuits and other components by acting as switch and short-circuiting unwanted electrostatic discharge through the porous layer when the spark-over voltage is exceeded.
Applications:
1. differential mode protection
2. protection against common mode interference
3. series connection with varistors
Advantages:
1. fast response time
2. high insulation resistance
3. lower capacitance
4. lower costs

Anti-Surge Wirewound Resistor
Traditionally, in operating environment where capability of high-power handling is required, wirewound resistors are usually the first choice because of their acclaimed stability. However, when it comes to anti-surge performance, reliability of wirewound resistors may not be as laudable due to possible weakness of the welding spot where wire-ends are fixed to the metal caps. Production process to overcome this disadvantage and perform consistently against high-voltage surge impact may render the use of anti-surge wirewound resistors costly and unpractical in many application areas.
Firstohm's innovation not only improves reliability of anti-surge wirewound resistors but most importantly, does not require costly production process.
Application:
Anti-surge wirewound resistors can be applied to operating environment where protection against sudden high-voltage spike is required, such as:
1. motor energization
2. ignition system
3. rush current protection
