Wearable Healthcare Devices based on Biofuel Cell.
We have been developing high-output paper-based biofuel cells that can generate electricity with sugar or lactate as the fuel, envisioning their use as wearable power sources. Paper has the advantages of being low-cost, lightweight, easily workable, and disposable. In addition, the primary component of paper is cellulose fibers; thus, it can absorb bodily fluids into their hydrophilic fibers without requiring an external supply source as an active pump. These characteristics are ideal for the continuous supply of bodily fluids.
