The Council for Global Communication Development and Promotion was established on December 17th (Wed), 2014 to promote the "Global Communication Plan" (https://gcp.nict.go.jp/assets/pdf/GCP_plan.pdf ) which aims to eliminate the world’s language barriers and facilitate human interaction on a global scale, while forming a nationwide initiative in collaboration with the academia, industry, and government. Led by the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), the Council continues to make efforts to improve the accuracy of multilingual speech translation technology and its social implementation toward the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
