On March 30th, 2012, Institute for Unmanned Space Experiment Free Flyer (USEF), Japan Resources Observation System and Space Utilization Organization (JAROS) and Earth Remote Sensing Data Analysis Center (ERSDAC) merged and started newly as Japan Space Systems (J-spacesystems).
Japan Space Systems (hereinafter "J-spacesystems") was established to ensure the national safety and security, the sound expansion of national economy, and the contribution for the global society by research, development, global cooperation, popularization and education, personnel training in the area of 'space systems'; satellite systems, launching systems, facilities for satellite operations, remote sensing technologies by satellites, and space environment utilization in order to promote the development of pioneering technologies in space and the utilization of the space technologies, and to contribute the promotion of preserving the earth's environment, resources, and energy, developing space industries
