The cloud-type talking robot OHaNAS is the world’s first robot to use NTT DOCOMO’s natural-language dialog platform that allows users to enjoy a natural conversation.

By linking to a smartphone or tablet using a Bluetooth connection and then connecting to various cloud servers with the functionality to comprehend communicative intention, the OHaNAS unit is able to engage in natural conversation, thus realizing a type of conversation-based communication on an unprecedented level.

By utilizing the voice recognition, voice synthesis and intention comprehension technologies and the Internet, TOMY offers an innovative and affordable new service.


Just by casually talking to OHaNAS, it can answer simple questions and provide you with the latest information, even the sort that constantly changes in real time, such as the news or the weather. In addition to helping with thoughts about preparing dinner and telling funny jokes, it is also able to provide responses to a range of light talk and engage in conversation just like a person, thereby naturally supporting users. It is designed to appeal to not only the kids and mom and dad, but it also can be a conversation partner for elder family members. Aside from answering questions, it also has an entertainment component, including composing haiku, telling your fortune and even singing you an original ditty.

Working in collaboration with NTT DOCOMO, INC., TOMY will also introduce Oshaberi Robot for Biz, a service for businesses.

This is a puppy robot that responds to peoples’ words. Using voice recognition, it understands about 90 categories of words (about 150 categories including secret commands), including “shake hands,” “sit” and “lie down.” Its reactions include gestures and barks and howls.

★Hello! Woonyan
This is a cat robot full of character. In addition to easily noticeable features such as eye color changes by mood, the robot has built-in touch sensors so that through tactile interaction such as patting, the robot shows affectionate gestures such as purring. It also has infrared sensors in the eyes, enabling it to chase hand movement or a play ball that comes as an included accessory. In addition to behaving like an adorable family cat, it is also loaded with funny talents (singing and barking!?).

★Baku Showtaro
This is a robot with built in radio -controlled clock that has 1,300 gags installed. Every time you press the button on its head, it tells one of its many gags including oyaji gags (dad puns), American jokes, or riddles.
Quite unique for a toy, it has a built in radio-controlled clock that keeps accurate date and time, which enables it to tell seasonal gags for the season or special day. In addition every Baku Showtaro in Japan will tell the same gag on the same day. (e.g. The gag on the day after its launch on August 8: “August 8 is laughter day. . .” (August 8 can be pronounced “ha ha” in Japanese.) “. . . What does a smile and getting out of the bath have in common? Getting dressed/It brings joy (both “fuku kimasu” in Japanese.)” )

JOY!VR makes it easy to enjoy space travel in one’s home.

Just by operating the controller, one can move about a 360° world of space. One can take the solar system cruise (travel the solar system by spaceship), do a spacewalk (do a spacewalk from a spaceship orbiting the earth), explore other astral bodies including the moon, and observing a planetarium.
