Company Introduction

ROHM was established in 1958 as a manufacturer of electronic and semiconductor components. ROHM proposes solutions for system optimization and develops a stable supply of high quality, high reliability LSIs and discretes by utilizing integrated quality management, from raw materials to assembly, based on a quality-first initiative established since the company was founded. ROHM also contributes to greater functionality and miniaturization by strengthening the development, production, and sales of new products and technologies designed to bring added value and meet future market needs.
In the IoT field a range of modules and evaluation kits are offered that make it easy to build sensor networks by utilizing ROHM's wide variety of sensor products and wireless communication technologies. And in recent years ROHM aims towards further growth in the industrial and automotive sectors that demand higher quality and reliability by leveraging superior analog expertise cultivated over many years.

Exhibiting Products

Exhibiting Products 1

Sensor Shield (ROHM Sensor Evaluation Kit)

ROHM offers a sensor shield compatible with open-source platforms such as Arduino and Lazurite featuring 8 onboard sensors (accelerometer, pressure sensor, magnetic sensor, ALS/PS sensor, color sensor, Hall IC, temperature sensor, and UV sensor). And this year, 3 onboard sensors (gyroscope, IMU 10D OF and optical pulse wave sensor) for the shield will be added to the evaluation kit.
In recent years an increasing number of companies are pursuing efforts in new markets following the expansion of IoT into fields such as infrastructure, agriculture, and automotive. However, constructing IoT systems entails a wide range of expertise and significant development load that involves both hardware and software. In addition, due to the different development and mounting environments for IoT devices, evaluation can prove to be problematic.
In response to customer demands for a tool that can quickly and easily evaluate sensor devices, ROHM developed an evaluation board compatible with open-source platforms that integrates multiple sensors. Simply connect the board to an Arduino Uno to receive sensor data (via software). This makes it easy to evaluate and prototype ROHM sensors, significantly reducing development load while contributing to expanding the IoT market.
In addition, various materials and software required for using the sensor shield can be downloaded from ROHM's sensor shield page: www.rohm.co.jp/web/japan/sensor-shield-support.

Lazurite Series

Lazurite, developed and provided by LAPIS Semiconductor, a group conpany of ROHM is a reference design series incorporating an MCU board, peripheral modules, and development environment that makes it easy to develop and prototype electronic circuits and IoT devices. Currently, the lineup includes a 920MHz wireless low power MCU board (Lazurite Sub-GHz) and 920MHz wireless Raspberry Pi gateway (Lazurite Pi Gateway).
Lazurite Sub-GHz combines an Arduino-compatible MCU board (Lazurite Basic) integrating LAPIS Semiconductor's 16bit low-power MCU with ROHM's 920MHz wireless communication module (BP3596A). Combining the Lazurite Basic, which features the industry's lowest power consumption (90% less than Arduino boards at standby), with the optimized BP3596A allows users to easily send and receive data via the 920MHz band ideal for environmental, agricultural, and industrial applications by simply connecting to different sensors, facilitating IoT evaluation and prototyping.
Lazurite Pi Gateway is a 920MHz wireless module compatible with Raspberry Pi, a popular open-source platform used to create a variety of electronic circuits and devices. The gateway is comprised of a connector board and ROHM's BP3596A module that makes it easy to achieve an internet gateway with 920MHz wireless communication, which offers superior energy savings and communication distance, when connected to a Raspberry Pi board. At this year's CEATEC, Lazurite mini 920J a SD card sized MCU board which has a feature of Lazurite Sub-GHz MCU and wireless module will be displayed at ROHM booth.
