Shimane Institute for Industrial Technology(SIIT) will be exhibiting some gesture operation interfaces by the name of "Gesture-Cam".
"Gesture-Cam" is collective term of some user interface technologies patented and proposed by SIIT.
SIIT will provide 3 products in this exhibition as follows:
・Gesture-Cam for PC:An interface for personal computers.
・Gesture-Cam for CAR NAVIGATION:An interface for in-vehicle equipment operation.
・Gesture-Cam for SIGNAGE:An interface for digital signage operation.
"Gesture-Cam" is registered trade mark of patented technology of Shimane Prefecture.
Gesture-Cam for PC
This is a system that allows gesture operation of a PC without touching the mouse or keyboard.
The biggest problem of conventional gesture technology is its difficulty of reducing false recognition. To solve this problem, This system creates two operational areas center on a user. One has select function and the other has decide function.
Gesture-Cam for CARNAVIGATION
This is a system that allows gesture operation of in-vehicle equipment (car navigation, head up display, etc.) without taking a look an in-vehicle display with a camera sensor.
This system equips a switch on a steering to detect start and stop of user’s gesture operation. Not only this hardware, but gesture recognition algorithms are key functions to compose a smooth gesture operation system.
Gesture-Cam for SIGNAGE
This is a system that allows gesture operation for a common digital signage. There is no need to complex gesture operation. User can operate this system’s cursor by moving its single hand from right to left or up and down directions. Also, user can decide by push its hand. These functions compose an intuitive gesture operation system.
