Shinya Katanozaka, the President & CEO of ANA HOLDINGS, is to open CEATEC 2019 with gala keynote speech

The CEATEC Executive Board – consisting of the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association, the Communications and Information Network Association of Japan, and the Computer Software Association of Japan – has announced that CEATEC 2019 will feature a keynote speech given by Mr. Shinya Katanozaka, CEO & President of ANA Holdings, on October 15th. The topic is scheduled to be “ANA Avatar”—teleportation technology will change the future. CEATEC 2019 is a comprehensive exhibition of Society 5.0, bringing together innovative CPS/IoT technologies from a wide range of businesses and industries. The exhibition will be held from October 15 (Tuesday) to 18 (Friday) at Makuhari Messe in Mihama-ku, Chiba-city.

CEATEC KEYNOTES in 2018, which garnered huge audiences, has been announced again with enhanced content. To kick off CEATEC 2019 where all industries and businesses gather, Mr. Shinya Katanozaka of ANA Group, the first speaker from the aviation industry, will take the podium for the opening keynote on the first day to typify CEATEC 2019.

In the event of selecting ANA as one of the keynote speakers, Mr. Katanozaka commented, “Built on a foundation of security and trust, ‘the wings within ourselves’ help to fulfill the hopes and dreams of interconnected world. This is not only ANA’s corporate mission statement but is the guiding principle that has fueled ANA’s growth from its humble beginnings as a small, private company with just two helicopters. Constantly challenging the status quo, ANA has overcome many obstacles and challenges to become Japan’s largest airline, operating over 1,000 flights a day with 119 routes connecting 50 cities domestically and 81 routes/44 cities internationally. To achieve the goals of Japan’s Society 5.0 vision, ANA is building on its legacy and opening a new chapter with the ambitious ANA Avatar program. ANA will leverage robotic avatar technology to enable the instantaneous teleportation of human presence, consciousness, and skills to distant locations to further connect our world and provide the world’s newest and most inclusive mobility service. Updates on the ANA Avatar program and plans to deploy avatars as a mobility infrastructure will be unveiled at CEATEC.”

Born 1955 in Kagoshima prefecture, Mr. Katanozaka joined All Nippon Airways (ANA) in 1979 after graduating from the Faculty of Law at the University of Tokyo. Throughout his career, he has worked in various departments including Marketing and Sales, Corporate Planning, Personnel, and Flight Operations. In 2009, he became a member of the Board of Directors of ANA as Executive Vice President of Marketing & Sales, CS Promotion, and Product & Services Strategy. In 2012, he became Senior Executive Vice President. In April 2013, following ANA’s shift to a Holdings Company structure, he became a member of the Board of Directors of ANA Holdings Inc. Since April 2015, he has been serving the role as President and CEO of ANA Holdings and spearheading ANA Group’s growth strategy. In addition he was appointed Vice Chair of Japan Business Federation (Keidanren) in May 2018.

Mr. Katanozaka’s opening keynote speech is a part of CEATEC Keynotes, which is given by business leaders of various industries. The opening keynote, which will take place as a conference will be held at one of the convention halls in Makuhari Messe’s International Conference Hall from 13:00 (1:00PM) on Tuesday, October 15th.
