October 6th - October 10th 2009
Makuhari Messe (Nippon Convention Center)
As the comprehensive and international exhibition showcasing cutting-edge IT and electronics technologies, CEATEC JAPAN celebrated its 10th anniversary last year with the theme of, "Digital Convergence - Defining the Shape of Our Future". The exhibition presented products and solution technologies that highlighted the continued merging of communications, information and image data in today's evolving digital network society, as well as supporting components, semiconductors and software content ? all under one roof.
It also saw the participation of 590 companies and organizations, including 263 companies and organizations from 22 countries and regions outside of Japan, displaying their products and technologies in 2,123 exhibition booths. In total, there were 150,302 visitors during the five days of the exhibition. The exhibition hours were shortened on the third day due to a passing typhoon but fortunately, the clear autumn weather returned on the fourth day and the final day saw the highest attendance for a Saturday in the history of the show.
CEATEC JAPAN 2009 also enjoyed significant international and domestic press coverage with daily reporting via television, newspapers and web-based media that showed a worldwide audience the latest technologies of exhibitors, hot new products, and elaborate exhibits designed to provide hands-on experience.
The exhibition utilized Halls 1 - 8 at the Makuhari Messe Exhibition Center and it was divided into two main sections - the Digital Network Stage and the Electronic Components, Devices & Industrial Equipment Stage.
Set up in Halls 1 - 5, the Digital Network Stage consisted of the Home & Personal Zone and Business and Society Zone. This stage enabled visitors to get a preview of the coming 3D television age and experience the next-generation in high-definition, high value-added TVs. Upcoming developments in the future of digital broadcasting, various networking systems, AR (augmented reality) services/technologies, etc. were also showcased.
The Electronic Components, Devices & Industrial Equipment Stage utilized Halls 5 - 8 to present an extensive range of sensors, semi-conductor components and high-function parts in a wealth of exhibits designed to provide visitors with direct exposure to potential product applications of the future. Prevalent throughout the exhibition were many devices incorporating photovoltaic generation and fuel-cell technologies as well as related peripheral systems for creating and saving energy such as LED illumination and innovative HEV/EV products.
With growth highly anticipated for the numerous environmental products and technologies on display, the exhibition exemplified the ways in which the power of IT and electronics is clearly poised to make significant contributions toward the reduction CO2 emissions.
