Friday, August 3, 2018
The CEATEC JAPAN Executive Board – consisting of the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association, the Communications and Information Network Association of Japan, and the Computer Software Association of Japan – has announced the start of pre-registration on this day, August 3rd (Fri.), for CEATEC JAPAN 2018 to be held for four days from October 16 (Tuesday) to 19 (Friday) at Makuhari Messe in Mihama-ku, Chiba-city.
In 2016, CEATEC JAPAN transitioned from a consumer electronics trade fair to a comprehensive CPS/IoT exhibition, with IoT as the main theme as it becomes a leading force in societal change. Emphasizing the slogan of “Connecting Society, Co-Creating the Future” for the third year, the 2018 exhibition will open as a Society 5.0 exhibition focusing on growth strategies for Japan and global futures while also promoting cooperation within a broad spectrum of industries and businesses by linking governments, manufacturing, and technologies to transcend the boundaries of traditional consumer electronics trade shows.
Major points of focus for 2018
(1) More than 600 leading companies and organizations from diverse industries and businesses are expected to participate
The exhibition floor has been designed to make it even easier for all participants to recognize future technologies and trends. With this comprehensive floor plan, visitors will be better able to discover in the Total Solutions area the wide-ranging solutions driving Society 5.0. Highly specialized cutting-edge solutions will also be presented in areas respectively themed Electronic Components/Devices and Systems, AI/Big Data/Cybersecurity, Mobility/Logistics, Smart Factories, Energy/Smart Life/Smart Work, Fitness/Health Care, and Entertainment. The Management Office anticipates yet another exceptional exhibition in 2018 as diverse industries and businesses showcase the latest CPS/IoT technological innovations in electronics, mobility, construction equipment, healthcare, machine tools, distribution, travel and toys.
(2) More than 100 conference sessions featuring leaders from diverse businesses including participants presenting keynote speeches for the first time
Conference sessions will be segmented into “CEATEC Keynotes” and “CEATEC Sessions” programs that will total more than a hundred events. Notably, the traditional program structure of the first day of the exhibition has been updated with top leaders from a number of industry leading companies scheduled to present keynote speeches. This year, keynote addresses will be presented by Komatsu CEO Tetsuji Ohashi, Preferred Networks CEO Toru Nishikawa, Lawson CEO Sadanobu Takemasu and Fanuc Chairman Yoshiharu Inaba. All conference schedules will be posted at the official website on August 10th (Fri.), and reservations for attendance will be accepted on the same day.
(3) More than 150 companies and organizations such as startups, universities and educational institutions are expected to participate
Exhibits from universities, startups and educational institutions representing the next generation striving to achieve Society 5.0 will be complemented by exhibits from more than 150 (an increase from the 140 participants in 2017) Japanese and international companies and organizations. CEATEC Pitch events, which are designed to promote initiatives that strengthen linkage between startups, universities, research institutions, large corporations and entrepreneurs, are also planned at the Innovation Talk Stage on the Hall 4 exhibit floor.
