CEATEC JAPAN 2018 to Feature Keynote Speech from Fanuc Chairman Yoshiharu Inaba

The CEATEC JAPAN Executive Board – consisting of the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association, the Communications and Information Network Association of Japan, and the Computer Software Association of Japan – has announced that CEATEC JAPAN 2018 will feature a keynote speech given by Fanuc CEO Dr. Yoshiharu Inaba on October 16. The topic will be “FIELD system: Creating Intelligent Factories with Mobile IoT”. CEATEC JAPAN 2018 is a comprehensive exhibition bringing together innovative CPS/IoT technologies from a wide range of businesses and industries. It will be held from October 16 (Tuesday) to 19 (Friday) at Makuhari Messe in Mihama-ku, Chiba-city.

CEATEC JAPAN continues to evolve from a conventional consumer electronics trade fair to a comprehensive CPS/IoT exhibition, and last year Fanuc exhibited at CEATEC JAPAN for the first time, attracting a great deal of attention. Dr. Inaba will be delivering a CEATEC JAPAN keynote speech for the second successive year.

Regarding his keynote speech, Dr. Inaba has said “I am delighted to be able to participate with everyone at CEATEC JAPAN and talk about the smart factories of the future. In the fall of last year, we announced our FIELD system – an autonomous, distributed production system for improving productivity by connecting various devices. As artificial intelligence grows in importance for production sites, this will contribute to the realization of “connected industries”. I will introduce our company’s initiatives to date and announce future directions. I hope you find it interesting.”

Dr. Inaba joined Fanuc in 1983 after working in the field of automotive production technologies. In 1999, he received his doctorate in engineering from the University of Tokyo for his research on electric servo injection molding machines. From 2003 he served as President of the company, and from 2016 as President and Chairman of the Board in charge of management. Dr. Inaba has also contributed to the development of the industry, serving 3 terms as Chairman of the Japan Robot Industry Association, and 13 years to the present as Vice Chairman of the Japan Machine Tool Association.

His keynote speech will be part of the “CEATEC Keynote Special” series in which business leaders from various industries take the podium. His address will start at 3:30pm on October 16 (Tuesday) in the Makuhari Messe International Conference Hall.
