Shingo Okamura, Director, Executive Officer,
and COO of DeNA,
selected as Keynote Speaker for CEATEC 2019

The CEATEC Executive Board — consisting of the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association, the Communications and Information Network Association of Japan, and the Computer Software Association of Japan — has announced that CEATEC 2019 will feature a keynote speech given by Mr. Shingo Okamura, Director, Executive Officer, and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of DeNA Co., Ltd., as well as President of Yokohama DeNA Baystars, on Friday, October 18th, the fourth day of the exhibition. Mr. Okamura is scheduled to talk under the theme The Three Internets & the Society of the Future. CEATEC 2019 is a comprehensive exhibition of Society 5.0, bringing together innovative CPS/IoT technologies from a wide range of businesses and industries. The exhibition will be held from October 15 (Tuesday) to 18 (Friday) at Makuhari Messe in Mihama-ku, Chiba-city.

In the event of selecting Mr. Okamura as one of the keynote speakers, he commented “Until now, DeNA has achieved growth primarily in mobile games, e-commerce, and other internet businesses, but recently we have entered more physical businesses such as the sports and mobility businesses, and we are aiming to achieve further growth by utilizing the Internet and artificial intelligence. Additionally, going forward, DeNA endeavors to bring new value to lifestyles through its businesses in the physical internet space, such as in autonomous driving and smart grids. In addition to these initiatives and the evolution they are bringing about, I will be discussing the society of the future that is created by the internet of “telecommunications, energy, and transportation”, so don’t miss this exciting talk!

After graduating from the Graduate School of Humanities and Sociology and Faculty of Letters at the University of Tokyo, Mr. Okamura joined the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (currently the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications) in April 1995. In August of 2015, he took up the position of Senior Planning Officer in the Planning Division of the Postal Services Policy Department in the Information and Communication Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. He left the ministry and joined DeNA in April 2016, where he became the Representative Director & President of the Yokohama Stadium Co., Ltd. In July 2017, he became an Executive Officer and Head of Sports Business Unit for DeNA, and after becoming Management Executive Officer and COO and Head of the Sports Unit in April 2019, he was then appointed as Director, Executive Officer, COO and Head of Sports Business Unit in June 2019 (present post).

The keynote speech is a part of CEATEC Keynotes, which is given by leaders of various industries and local governments. Mr. Okamura’s keynote, which is a part of conferences, will be held at one of the convention halls in Makuhari Messe’s International Conference Hall from 13:00 (1:00PM) on Wednesday, October 18th. Other Keynotes and conferences will be announced in the future.
