Hidehiko Yuzaki, Governor of Hiroshima Prefecture
selected as Keynote Speaker for CEATEC 2019

The CEATEC Executive Board – consisting of the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association, the Communications and Information Network Association of Japan, and the Computer Software Association of Japan – has announced that CEATEC 2019 will feature a keynote speech given by Mr. Hidehiko Yuzaki, Governor of Hiroshima Prefecture on October 18th, the fourth day of the exhibition. Mr. Yuzaki is scheduled to talk under the theme Digital transformation from Hiroshima – The DX form that Japan should aim for. CEATEC 2019 is a comprehensive exhibition of Society 5.0, bringing together innovative CPS/IoT technologies from a wide range of businesses and industries. The exhibition will be held from October 15 (Tuesday) to 18 (Friday) at Makuhari Messe in Mihama-ku, Chiba-city.

CEATEC KEYNOTES that started in 2018, which garnered huge audiences, has been announced again with enhanced content. As one of the keynotes at CEATEC 2019, Mr. Yuzaki will be taking the rostrum as the first prefectural governor in the history of CEATEC.

In the event of selecting Hiroshima Prefecture for one of the keynote speakers, Mr. Yuzaki commented as follows: “Japan’s overall economy continues to shrink due to a decreasing population, a falling birthrate, and an ageing population. As limitations of the Tokyo favored model start to appear, there are calls for innovation to keep maintaining Japan’s dynamism and competitiveness. Up to now Hiroshima has been heralding the slogan of making Hiroshima famous for innovation, and this has built the groundworks for digital transformation. Along with introducing efforts to generate innovation of the prefecture, there are plans to make a speech about the future ideas for efforts that are targeted at the realization of sustainable regional society and autonomous management through DX. Mr. Yuzaki was born in Hiroshima Prefecture in 1965, graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1990, and received an MBA from Stanford University in 1995. At the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (presently Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) in 1990, he engaged in work on automobiles, trade with the US, energy, ventures, etc., then was seconded to a venture capital firm in Silicon Valley. In 2000, he resigned from METI. Then, after founding ACCA Networks as Founder and Representative Director, he engaged in the diffusion of low-cost/fixed-cost broadband access aimed at individuals and corporate enterprises, contributing to the infrastructure of Japan’s internet industry. The company became listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 2005, and he resigned in 2008. Won his first election in 2009, and is now in his third term as Governor of Hiroshima Prefecture, which is currently developing a policy campaign whose slogan is “GOOD WORK • HAPPY LIFE ~ Enjoy a lifestyle of seeking the best at work and at home in Hiroshima.”

The keynote speech is a part of CEATEC Keynotes, which is given by business leaders of various industries. Mr. Yuzaki’s keynote, which is a part of conferences, will be held at one of the convention halls in Makuhari Messe’s International Conference Hall from 14:45 (2:45PM) on Friday, October 18th.
