Striving to quickly make the use of the world’s first fully automatic laundry folding robot as practical as possible.

Seven Dreamers Laboratories, Panasonic, and Daiwa House are striving to quickly make the use of the world’s first fully automatic laundry folding robot as practical as possible. This will be accomplished by combining the strengths of each company such as the innovative automatic laundry folding technologies of Seven Dreamers Laboratories, Panasonic’s advanced washer-dryer technologies and home appliance development capabilities, and Daiwa House’s expertise in homebuilding and healthcare/medical facility businesses.

The introduction of Laundroid will help to free consumers from the tedious chore of folding laundry, enabling them to more conveniently use the time saved for other everyday tasks.

Seven Dreamers Laboratories used Series A venture capital to raise a large-scale fund of 1.52 billion yen through the allocation of new shares to a third party with bill acceptance by multiple corporations including Daiwa House, Tokyo University Edge Capital, etc. This means that the company will be able to continue developing innovative technologies while ensuring the growth of its successful global businesses.

Of the six steps needed to fold laundry ― the grabbing, spreading, identification, folding, sorting, and storing away of clothes ― the Laundroid demonstration at CEATEC JAPAN 2015 focused on the identification and folding of T-shirts.
When a freshly washed and dried T-shirt is removed from the washer-dryer and placed into the Laundroid, it takes about three to four minutes to properly identify and fold the T-shirt. This kind of performance means that the need to manually fold the laundry could soon become a thing of the past.

A demonstration of identifying and folding of laundry using T-shirts is shown at the booth.
