CEATEC JAPAN 2015 Opening Press Conference

As a leading exhibition of cutting edge IT and electronics, CEATEC JAPAN 2015 is being held in Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan from October 7 (Wed) to 10 (Sat). Opening press conference was held at the venue on Tuesday October 6.

Announcement of new technologies

First of all, representing the three organizations of CEATEC JAPAN Executive Board, Chairman Shigeaki Mizushima gave a welcome speech.

“This is the 16th time this exhibition has been held since 2000. The theme this year is “NEXT – Today’s Dreams, Future Realities.” Originally at this exhibition, we saw launch of many digital consumer electronics apparatus and introduction of new products to enrich lifestyles, but as times have changed, services using IT have been developed to also make our lives better. CEATEC JAPAN has also expanded with the times from being a consumer electronics show to a new shift based on the developments in cyber-physical systems (CPS) and Internet of things (IoT). Bringing together innovations under the keyword “NEXT”, the show will provide new proposals for the “NEXT”, and be a place where new technologies are announced.

Shigeko Tsuwaki of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, a supporting ministry to the show, gave a speech that “METI will disseminate to the world with the aim to be the frontier of new generation”.

Fumitake Takahashi of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, also a supporting ministry to the show, spoke of “how MIC will be releasing events toward the future 5G era”, and covered on specific examples of NEXT.

  3. An increase in new exhibits from venture companies that will lead the next generation

This year, 531 companies are exhibiting (1609 booths). Featured stages & areas of this year’s show are: the Lifestyle & Society Stage, the Key Technologies Stage, the NEXT Innovation Area and Conference.

The CEATEC AWARD will also be held this year. Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Award and the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award will be selected from the 20 companies that have passed primary examinations.
